OpenAL tutorials (playing NSF in blitzmax)

BlitzMax Forums/BlitzMax Programming/OpenAL tutorials (playing NSF in blitzmax)

I'm developing a NES styled game at the moment and I would really like to be able to use the NSF sound format in-engine.

Scouring the forums here, I found this thread from 6 years ago where someone successfully managed to get NSF files working.

I grabbed a copy of the Festalon 0.3.0 source but unfortunately denzilquixode's code no longer works (I believe due to changes in Freeaudio)

The original author ported the code to work with FMOD but I'd really like to try to get it working with OpenAL (or even native Blitzmax audio). Are there any tutorials on using OpenAL buffers with Blitzmax?

As an aside, is there a particular reason why the NSF has to be Incbinned?
