I am running it as adminstrator with UAC disabled, and it crashes when downloading with no explanation.

It must be something on your system, as I installed it today on Vista Home Premium SP1 64bit and all is good (UAC disabled)

I just installed Vista, with SP1 included.

The fourth time I ran it, it magically worked.

By the way: Max3D uses MinGW 5.1.4, which seems OK with the rest of blitzmax as well.

(No problems with either under Vista business SP1 64 bit)

Max3D haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaa... erm

Eh?

You do realize that it's been released now, right?

MinGW is a pain in the arse to install. I don't think I've ever managed to get it to work in one go. It often hangs for ages when trying to download files. Occasionally crashes when trying to actually install, too.

Three or four attempts has always been normal, for me.

Yes, I had this problem too. Installed correctly on the second try. Weird.

I just tried to install 5.1.4, but apparently it only installed the parts that weren't already installed in 3.4.5... So now some parts are 3.4.5, while some are 5.1.4.

Since everything seems to work I won't dare touch it any more...

So now some parts are 3.4.5, while some are 5.1.4.

Not advisable... you may find lots of things don't work properly like this?
