Title says it all, how good or bad is opengl on bmax etc. these days. There's been a tendency for people with problems on demos etc. to be running ATI cards while nvidia cards were fine.

It's fine now. ATI has fixed their drivers.

ATI X1600 card here on an iMac, works fine, OpenGL 2.1 with shaders and all that.

has there? I just switched to nvidia maybe 6 months ago... I was running ATI since blitzmax came out and I don't remember any tendency for more problems... Actually I had very few issues because of drivers. The biggest issues I found were on Intel integrated chipsets.

However, no ATI cards support GPU instancing or PCF shadow maps in OpenGL. I do not know anything about their support for DirectX features.
