Hello,
I'm finishing a new optimized version of the wonderfull font machine module for BlitzMax. this new version comes with a sort of multi plug-in engine that makes it ultra easy to create spetial effects on bitmap fonts at runtime, and additionally, it has all kind of optimizations, but before making this module update public, I would like to see how it performs on different computers.
This example is done using OpenGL and I'm very interested to see how it works on intel cards (also on all kind of cards).

Please download the sample application here and provide system specs and average frame rate.

680~ fps with FX border and shadow on
940~ fps with no FX border or shadow

EDIT: 740~ fps shadow and border only

On my Sony Laptop with Intel 915GM graphics card the application opens then immediately closes (Console window)

On my Dell XPS with Geforce 6800 Ultra:

Default=1272
border off=1380
shadow off=1470
effects=1190

On my T61 Winxp SP2 laptop I get the same result as Jim.

WinXP SP2, Athlon 2700+, 7600GT, 1G Ram.
730 no border or shadow
666 border no shadow
595 Shadow no border
550 Shadow and border
Looks good too.

It is not a console application. that's weird. Do you have any problems running NRV compressed applications?

1480 with no extras,
1310 with shadows on,
1317 with borders on,
1205 with shadoows + borders on.

Windows Vista
Athlon 64 X2 5200+ processor (2.6GHz)
2Gb RAM
512MB GeForce 8800 GTS

Opens and straight closes here as well. No error or the like that pops up
Intel GMA900 64MB Shared
Windows XP Tablet 2005 (with disabled advanced text services to be sure, as B3D / BPlus does not work while it is active)

With Shadows / Borders = 325 FPS
No Shadows / Borders = 454 FPS

Athlon XP2500+ (1.82 Ghz), 1Gb Ram, (XP SP3)
