I get just a black screen on my PIII S3 Laptop.

Filax(Posted 2007) [#3]
Outch :) I don't know why ? But i think to change the gui
for maxgui. The res is 1024/768. if many peoples have problems
i'll try to post a demo in windowed mode.

Wow this is KILLER, look forrwarding to purchase full version when avaiable.

And I hope to have a MaxGUI version, a native look feels better.

"And I hope to have a MaxGUI version"
Taking note, thanks Yoko

Dreamora(Posted 2007) [#6]
black screen with nothing more on S3: too less VRAM? :)

Filax(Posted 2007) [#7]
It's strange, two S3 graphic display, the same problem ?

tonyg(Posted 2007) [#8]
I think Dreamora is saying my issue with the S3 is due to lack of VRAM.

Dreamora(Posted 2007) [#9]
Thats what I mean.

BlitzMax needs full VRAM and S3 normally have 4-8MB VRAM which is not nearly enough for a full 3D based 2D system.

Its interesting you say that as it has run nearly all other particle systems release in Bmax OK including Particle Dreams and ParticleSky. It currently runs Smash Particle System OK.
There is slowdown when a 'number' of particles are involved but never just a black screen.
I don't really expect things to run on this system but provided the feedback for information.

Dreamora(Posted 2007) [#11]
Particle systems on their own don't use that much of texturing ...

But above editor might, depending on how it works, create the needed texture overhead to cause that. Or that it uses Indiepaths Render2Texture.

the only other reason I could think of is that it is fixed on OpenGL instead of using DX7 which automatically fallsback to OGL if needed.

tonyg(Posted 2007) [#12]
I guess Filax can answer that although the SmashEd program works OK as, IIRC, did Filax's ParticleEngine Editor from a few years back. IGlass works OK too.
Its a long shot it uses RTT but even so this machine has never had a problem with that.
I agree it could be OGL if that's what Filax's editor uses.
@Filax, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you get other reports.

Filax(Posted 2007) [#13]
Thanks for informations :) But i think that all problems
go away, when i'll try to make a maxgui interface (i hope...)
