BLIde users needs LUA?

BlitzMax Forums/BlitzMax Programming/BLIde users needs LUA?

ziggy(Posted 2007) [#1]
I was thinking of creating a BLIde add-on to hilite LUA files when used on BLIde. Would this addon be useful? are there any BLIde users using LUA?

Barbapapa(Posted 2007) [#2]
not yet, but would be awesome in future, not to forget miniB3D, that would be on my list at priori one.

ziggy(Posted 2007) [#3]
miniB3D is suported, but not hilighted. I'm working on a option to add some MODs to the default reduced hilighting keywords. but BLIde will require more CPU usage when you add lots of keywords.

Dreamora(Posted 2007) [#4]
That's why I have a second core ^^

I don't need it right now, I use PSPad if I'm in need of writting LUA (does not happen that often, mainly AI or trigger behavior when I'm not hacking WoW Addons together or translating them to german, so at best an hour or two per week).
But at some point in the future, I'm sure it could be a very usefull addition when I'll be able to motivate myself to write the needed classes to allow LUA to use my stuff and mod it.

plash(Posted 2007) [#5]
I'm not into LUA quite yet.

ziggy(Posted 2007) [#6]
Should it be more important to have XML hilighting?

plash(Posted 2007) [#7]
To me, XML highlighting would be much more useful.

SpaceAce(Posted 2007) [#8]
I also think XML highlighting would be more useful than LUA right now.

I hate to break in with a bug report, but I want to post it while it's fresh in my mind: the last two or three versions of BLIde have been giving me trouble when I have a project open and then try to open a single file that is part of that project.

For instance, MyProject includes a file called Main.bmx. Main.bmx has the line

Include "somefile.bmx"

Now, if I have MyProject open and I go to File -> Open -> single blitzmax file and try to open somefile.bmx, I get this crash:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The only lines in somefile.bmx are Include statements; somefile.bmx is just a convenient container for all the files I want included in the project.

SpaceAce: This has been fixed for next release. It is a side effect of the new ultra fast project loader system, but it has been fixed. Thanks for reporting.

ziggy(Posted 2007) [#10]
I would apreciate a lot if someone can send me some LUA files to make some parsing tests, and some XML files also.
thanks! my email is on my profile.

Sin of Nature(Posted 2007) [#11]
My Blide crashes with the error that SpaceAce has mentioned. I have 0.8.10

Any solutions? Version 0.8.8 worked perfectly.

There will be an update today or tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the best way to avoid this bug, is NOT use the toolbar to open a file already included in your project. To load this file, simply click on the file name, at the Project dependencies tree. This way you won't cause this bug.

Cartman(Posted 2007) [#13]
I need both XML and Lua but, the XML is more pressing. Thanks for looking out for us Ziggy.
