Does anybody know if the offical brl gui mod will work over the top of full screen apps in the same way as the halflife engine uses native gui in game?

I think, the BRL GUI will use standar windows/mac/gnome windows system, so it will system-oriented, not a graphical emulated GUI.
So, no full screen, unless you create a non-border window, with the width and height of the user's desktop.
Anyway, it's only a gess

yes.. i understand its not "graphical" in the same way BCF is, but my understanding is that Halflife uses native GUI in game.

I don't think HL uses Windows Controls.

I presume if you can get the native gui's to work with an opengl or directx context embedded within it, which would be useful, you could get the two to blend?
