Loading Unicode Fonts

Hi,

I want to support apian languages in may game. When I load a font into bmax is every character in the font rendered into a bitmap version or are characters rendered on the fly.

If I load a 25 Meg Unicode font such as MS Arial, is allot more ram than 25 Meg used to store and render that font?

(I can do some tests when i get home but thought somebody might know)
