Just messing around ... I'm playing with the zombie sprite from the demo games in my own game and for kicks threw 2,000 of them with shadows plus tiles + the rockout ship and shadow. Still get 50 fps with all of that. I actually threw in 10,000 zombies and was still able to get 10 fps. Pretty awesome rendering speed. Unfortunately, with the following/crowd algorithms I've got I can't even have 200 assembled (they don't run over each other etc...) without diving down to 15 fps. Of course who really needs 2,000 characters follwing them in an organized crowd ...
