OpenGL 1.4 or greater implementation?

BlitzMax Forums/BlitzMax Programming/OpenGL 1.4 or greater implementation?

zeedoktor(Posted 2004) [#1]
Hi,

any chance OpenGL 1.4 or greater will be implemented anytime soon? I need volumetric fog, and that's only available in 1.4 and up...

thanks

- Balt

Beaker(Posted 2004) [#2]
You need volumetric fog in 2D?

bradford6(Posted 2004) [#3]

I need volumetric fog

'need' is a strong word to use for volumetric fog. scary

seriously,
I think Mark is going to work on a BRL module that addresses 3D issues. now that OpenGL is 2.0 is out, a newer implementation of OpenGL may be warranted

zeedoktor(Posted 2004) [#4]
2.0 is fine with me. As long as volumetric fog is supported... :)

Why would that be scary?

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#5]
2.0?
And where do you get graphics driver from ( on windows ) that are nearly next to compatible to it? ;)

bradford6(Posted 2004) [#6]
just kidding. it was the 'need' instead of 'want' that my comment was based on.

as Beaker said, Blitzmax in its current state is 2D primarily. by using the openGl spec you can do 3D (see Terabit's nice demo)

flying willy(Posted 2004) [#7]
Can people please not be arrogant? said person may be doing 3D graphics. Either by themselves or from terabits current work.

Please keep the forums professional and take the play to IRC where it belongs. I won't tolerate it, and neither should anyone else.

These forums should be a place to quickly progress, share ideas and improve.

Hey SKunk,

Have you ever gone by the name DocWiz?

flying willy(Posted 2004) [#9]
I have answered you on the other thread. Can you get off my case? Troll.

So you're not DocWiz then?

I won't tolerate it

skunk, are you a moderator all of a sudden?

Physician, heal thyself?

ImaginaryHuman(Posted 2004) [#14]
I Think OpenGL is fully backwards compatible so if it does get updated in BlitzMax to a newer version it hopefully wont pose any problems.

Words of wisdom.

zeedokter: I'm pretty sure you don't need 1.4 support to use volumetric fog. It's likely that you can do it now with 1.2.

TommyBear(Posted 2004) [#16]
lol... you are terrible Amon! :p

AntonyWells(Posted 2004) [#17]
What's up doc?

Btw zee, most new gl implentations rely on extensions which you should already have access to.(Unless my nvidia sdk is missing vital parts ;))
Check out the glew module. Glew = Super easy access to ALL gl extensions. Including the latest nvidia/ati ones you're most likely wanting.
(Radial fog for instance)

Beaker(Posted 2004) [#18]
Let me assure you that he isn't DocWiz. But he is someone we all know. A Blitz veteran.

bet on halo basing on his behavior
