Hi. Some issues I need to figure before I install or buy new stuff.

1) Is it possible to use blitzmax and blide over a window 8 tablet?
2) what about monkey and win 8 tablet?
3) are there problems with blitzmax over a 64 version of window 7 or 8?

Tnx

Hello,

1) I run Blide and BMax on a ASUS Transformer T100. Its basically running a full version of windows 8.1 on a tablet. Make sure you don't go for a Windows 8 RT tablet though as you can't install traditional windows program on it.

2) Same as above.

3) I haven't had any problems running BMax on 64 bit systems.

BTW: I've heared MS is fasing out Windows RT, so not a viable platform anymore for anyone, it wasn't the big success they'd hoped for(who didn't see that coming?). The normal Win 8.1 x64 is now their main dish. Expect to see X86(32 bit) dying out soon too as it is becoming obsolete.
Dell is no longer using X86 on their new tablets AFAIK, which are now(finally) stabilizing.

Oh snap. Does this mean that x86 programs wont work on new OSs?

It does not. x64 is fully backward-compatible with x86 if the right libraries are installed - which they are guaranteed to be on all current versions of Windows. x86 isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Increasingly Linux distributions are leaving these libraries out by default to lighten the installation load, but they're only a quick `apt-get install`away on there too.
