Here we go: A new Version is online. Alot improved and with a major bug removed (thx to Rone of the german commnity).

Please Test again:
http://www.blitzforum.de/upload/file.php?id=1650

The bug mainly seems to be the reason for the 'Dual Core paradoxon'.
To give you a clue what this app does:
First it represents a fully included Octree scenemanager for static objects. As you may see it will be around twice as fast as the original in the avarage and completely uncompareable faster in some kinds of positions eg: in the middle of the cube cloud .

On my system an Athlon64 3200+ with 1GB Ram and an X800 I get the following results:

With Octree:
~170fps in an average
~2600 tris

with Standard Scenemanager:
~77 fps
~4600 tris

thx for testing

Core 2 Duo here...

Normal Result :
65.1546021 FPS
32253 Tris

Octree Result :
103.455444 FPS
16170 Tris

Seems consistent on a couple of tries for each.

Could it be that the dual-core systems giving you slower results simply have slower individual cores than your single-core CPU (assuming the test isn't using more than one processor at a time)?

Thx @ all.

@James: I don't mean that the results are slower on Dual core systems. Instead the results are 'swapped' on some systems. Compare your result with North and you will see. And this is what doesn't make really sense to me.

Brucey(Posted 2007) [#10]
RAM, Cache size, Cache is shared / not.... ?

North(Posted 2007) [#11]
If i can be of any further assistance please ask.

klepto2(Posted 2007) [#12]
I'm currently rewriting the whole Octree thing because I have found some major design issues. I will post a new test as soon the new Version is ready.

@North: thx, I will surly come back to this offer ;)

It could be that you have something running in the background on the dual core cpu system.

Thx, to all who have tested. I now have fully integrated the octree scenemanager as an alternative. Additional I have totally rewritten the Terraincode and now it loads much faster, there is only 1 very accurate and fast TerrainY function and there is the abbility to create empty terrains. Well I will try to add a fast ModifyTerrain but I do not promise this, because it maybe a bit difficult due to the chunked terrain.
Also I have added the complete VehiclePhysics from Newton to the miniB3D physics system. And at least I have fixed a very
heavy bug within my extended Version.

Keep exited , new Version will arrive soon.

But I miss the fullscreen option as I have a screen resolution of 1680x1050 and always active stuff that will prevent the benchmark from playing out its true capabilities.

I think I am currently at 6400 as well, not sure, still playing around with the "how far can I go" with the FSB, Memory Clock and PCIe clock

but it is really strange that ATI and AMD makes such a big difference ...

Canardian(Posted 2007) [#33]

PS. Guys, you can press Ctrl-Ins to get the dialog box to the clipboard as text :)

PPS. klepto2: For some wierd reason MiniB3D ext 0.41 is MUCH faster than Blitz3D on my PC (30 vs 91 FPS), well I'm happy!
