My GL skills are just not up to the task, which is why I ask.
The technique seems rather simple though, with a depth map from the global light and another depth map from the camera, the light matrix is put in camera space and if the depth is greater, then the pixel is in shadow.
It can seemingly even be done without shaders.

Well I'll put it on my todo list but I expect I'll be slow about it.
