Problems with Cairo

I'm having problems doing anything with text.
When I run the example of "text.bmx" that comes with cairo I get a white blank screen.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

I have an update pending (currently available via maxmods SVN) which improves the general state of font stuff in the Cairo module.
Are you using the current release (as available from brucey.net?

so... "quickly", no... but I think it should be possible to write something with which you can say DrawTextOnPath(x, y, text, path)
