Breaking joints in chipmunk physics

I've been toying around with the chipmunk physics module and I'm very impressed with it so far. I've managed to implement it into my current game project however I was wondering if anyone could tell me the best way of breaking joints in-game. To give an example, I want to have chains break if the links are shot at by the player character. Lets says that when the bullet sprite collides with the chain-link sprite, an impulse is applied to the chipmunk body that represents the chain-link. How should I go about having the joints attached to that body break when a certain amount of force is acted upon it? I'm a total newbie when it comes to this module so please forgive me if I'm missing something blindly obvious. |
