BLide question and indenting

I'm trying out the demo of BLide and was wondering if there is a setting to have it indent the code? It sucks at the moment, but i'm sure there is a setting I'm missing. I loved IdEal and how it indented and connected if/then, case/select, and loops etc. Made it very easy to follow the flow. |

I usually just press TAB when I want to indent something :-p |

BRUCEY !! Remember the coders oath... don't tell outsiders of TAB ... :D Galdy... most intend with "tab", others intend with "space" - the most and best practice is to use tab AND on export (eg. if working with others - who use different editors) convert the tabs to a fixed amount of spaces (most: 4 spaces = 1 tab). Why? a Tab can be XX spaces wide when converted to fixed-width-chars. Advantage of tabs: 2 tabs is in all cases one "depth" more than 1 tab... does not matter if 1 tab equals to 4 spaces or 6. bye Ron |

Of course, I do see the usefulness of auto-indenting as you go, so if press RETURN on the end of a line that began with If, then it might be useful for the editor to indent by one TAB on the new line. Personally, I don't like it to assume so much that I want to do, and am happy if it simply keeps the same indentation level as the previous line. |

BLIde should auto-indent as you type, using its autocompletion system. Also it inherits indentatio from previous line. That said, if what you want is format the identation of a previously written source code document, you can do so on "Edit / Advanced / Format whole document" This option will scan and format the whole document, including expressions, tabs, spacing, datatype shortcuts, etc etc. You can also select a whole block of code and press TAB to ident it, or Shift+Tab to decrease identation. Darn it. Still having issues with Blide. I can see the threads connecting the select/end select & case blocks, but they are over lapping each other and Tabing isn't correcting the problem. Any issues with Blide working with windows 7?. I don't know what the problem is. I'd like to not have to manualy indent every line so they are not over lapping threads. Last edited 2012 |
