Ive searched the forums high and low for my problem as i'm very sure i'm not the first, and wont be the last, to have this problem....

I'm very new to Mac ( older g5 ) and the first i tried to install was BlitzMax. I downloaded and installed no problem, but when i try to compile i get .......

building breakout
Compiling:breakout.bmx
sh: as: command not found

then the build error data with the file path

Is there a 'proper' way to install BMax or somewhere specific to put it ?
Or is it that i'm missing other files needed for the build ?

The G5 has never had Blitz installed until now.
I saw a post that had the same problem but they fixed it themselves and posted that they also saw the fix in the sticky thread. Ive searched the sticky threads but i cant find anything in relation to this.

Thanks for all your help....

Make sure that XCode is installed, it's necessary to be able to compile.
If you don't have it already, it's a free download from apple.com

yep, the 3gb one. It's also on your install disks.

Cheers

Might be worth mentioning that when I installed XCode from the install disc on my iMac (Snow Leopard), it then went on to download a half GB update as well. Still... that's better than 3GB I suppose.
