Using a framework

BlitzMax Forums/BlitzMax Beginners Area/Using a framework

Hi,

I've not really used BlitzMax that much before and I've seen some threads on here talking about frameworks.

Would you advise that I look into using one of these frameworks?

Maybe it's more handy to try some simple stuff on your own first, to get a grip on the language and then take a look at the frameworks to see which fits your needs the best... I say this because some frameworks can be quite complicated from a language point of view.

I personally use the RRFW framework, which is very good, but can be complicated for a Max newbie.

Playniax's 2D framework is currently AFAIK the only commercial framework available.

Yea I've had a look at that. Would I benefit from it as a newbie though?

There's no rush, I think you would be better off coding without a framework for a while, until you get to the stage a framework would be useful. You're new to BlitzMax, but how experienced are you in coding in general?

As a newbie myself, I'd say it's too soon for the Playniax framework. I took a look at it, and, it looks like it helps you to do a lot of things faster and more easily... if you already know something about how to do those things.
