Can BMax do 3D?

Just wanted to know if BlitzMax can do 3D like Blitz3D or will it one day do 3D?

No, it can't do it like Blitz3d. It can do it like C++ or Delphi, in that you can use the OpenGL API if you like. It's pretty low level and while the basics are pretty easy, it's a lot of work to get anything up to the complexity of Blitz3d.

A proper 3d module is underway and due for release before Xmas, but don't hold your breath on the date.

yes. There is a MAX3D module in the works. Currently Blitzmax can do 3D by using OpenGL directly but for more Blitz3D like commands. hold out for the 3D Module

ETA 6 months ??

sure it can... you an use one of the 3D engine modules that have been interfaced to 'max... either irrlicht, or one of the other ones in development...

that's the whole deal behind the BlitzMax concept, isn't it... modularity... pick and choose the module that you want...

the official BlitzMax 3D module won't be ready for a while yet... but in the interim, check out the forum for those that are... or half way are :)

good luck
