I have just added my MIDI dll and blitz functions to the Blitz toolbox.
http://www.blitzbasic.com/toolbox/toolbox.php?tool=120

With it you can do simple MIDI input and output.

I use it with a MIDI control surface to give me banks of sliders/knobs and buttons that I can use within Blitz3D.

Thanks a lot, this is *very* useful !

Do you know how to extract the lyrics from a .kar (karaoke) file ?

Sergio.

I have not tried to!
Are you talk about display the lyrics as the music plays?
Or just looking thru the file and outputing the lyrics?

semar(Posted 2004) [#4]
Both.

Not all the .kar have the lyrics inside, and also, the lyric could also stay inside the normal .mid files.

I'm really interested in the capabilities of this dll. Perhaps is not very far the dawn of a Blitz Midi Sequencer..

Sergio.

According to information I found here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_Instrument_Digital_Interface
...a ".kar" file is actually a midi file with a different extension. If that's true, then you should be able to play a ".kar" file in any midi player by changing the file extension to ".mid"

So to extract lyrics from a .kar file should be identical to extracting them from a normal .mid file.

Thanks for the info.

So to extract lyrics from a .kar file should be identical to extracting them from a normal .mid file.

Do you have perhaps a small example on how to extract the lyrics from a .mid file, using this brilliant DLL ?

Sergio.
