alpha mapped characters

Hiya,

Using 3DS Max/B3d Pipeline or UU3D is it possible to sucessfully export characters with alpha mapped/ 2 sided textures/meshes so I can get a torn tunic effect?

I don't want to do the rough edges in meshes just in maps, I also want to have straps in other characters, seeing through one mapped texture to another (or part of the same texture).

Any idea? I can't seem to get this to be totally successful.

Ok,

I have *bumped* this so anyone with a similar problem can see one way around the issue.

My characters had alpha channels to reveal other textures through straps and such on their clothing. This was causing horrible z-buffer issues and all sorts of flickering.

I simply replaced the alpha channel with black and loaded the textures in game using the mask flag, the whole thing is working much better now, although I cannot have true black in the masked texture - ah well
