What should I use for my website? All suggestions are welcome.

It' s good to know about HTML and maybe php and mysql, so the answer is "Notepad and RTFM", but it may also be handy to use one of the better webpage editors that offers professional style templates. There may be forums and servers that are dedicated to discuss and review webpage editors only.

Free HTML editor:
http://nvu.com

Free PHP editor:

Shareware FTP:
http://smartftp.com/

Use Notepad++. It has syntax highlighting for HTML and PHP (plus dozens of other languages).

Like jfk, I'd also recommend RTFM. It'll be your best friend.

Should've put this in General Discussion since its got nothing to do with Blitz3D programming.

[edit]Oh, and Filezilla is far better than SmartFTP.

Notepad++ looks great---an excellent text editor with some nice bonus features for viewing code--thanks for the tip. However, it doesn't compare by any means to a proper IDE for programming in PHP, or a WYSIWYG editor for HTML. Definitely check out Nvu and Maguma.

When was the last time you looked at SmartFTP? From the screenshots of Filezilla, I'm not so convinced. But if you're sure it's better, I'll give it a try.

I use Notepad2... Probably very similar to Notepad ++

When was the last time you looked at SmartFTP?
A few months ago, when I moved to Filezilla.

I was using SmartFTP which is supposedly free for personal use, yet I got nag screens every time I started it up and every now and again it would simply stop working completely.

I reinstalled it a couple of times, which got it going again. But it would always go tits-up again - sometimes in a matter of hours.

In the end I simply got fed up of dealing with it.

I have seen similar problems, maybe not quite as severe, but I do know what you're talking about. Seems like some issues with the GUI initialising properly.

Personally, I don't mind the nag screen so much, and I do like the look and feel of it. It's been a while now since it last fell apart like that, but next time it does, I'll give Filezilla a shot.

Now go check out Nvu and Maguma! Both are amazing finds.

I was going to write it in HTML which I learned from here http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_webserver.asp
Do you know of any better place?

Chaosspear(Posted 2007) [#10]
how does someone position a image in HTML?

Chaosspear(Posted 2007) [#11]
hello?

Chaosspear(Posted 2007) [#12]
HELLLO?

This isn't a chatroom. If we all did what you just did this forum would be full of "Hello!?" messages. :P

IN answer to your question: I typed "Position an image in HTML" including the speech marks, into google:

I'd rather search for something like "html tutorial beginner", there must be a zillion out there.

I use Macromedia Dreamweaver Studio 8 Professional... to keep things visual. For the rest its me :-P
It costs way to much time to write a table in notepad.
But thats going to cost you something between $999 and $1200, im not sure.
And PaintShop Pro 9 (or X) is a affordable tool for graphics.
Tough i do recommend Photoshop CS if you plan to go VERY graphical with your websites or folders.
Also Photoshop is recommended for Texturing because it has more tools then PaintShopPro to make good textures.

I use MS Word, however it is very bad.
