Filax(Posted 2006) [#1]
Hi :)

I'm finishing TerraEd Pro ! More than six months were
necessary to its complete programming ! Hard work to do :)

I tried to correct the errors of the old version, and bringing
many innovations. The edition is more complete, and much more
precise than the old version.

I'm finishing 2/3 missing stuff and the next step is
TerraFormat :)

Here is a screenshot with a stupid map (used to coding)

ckob(Posted 2006) [#2]
will previous owners get an update for this?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#3]
It's not really an update :) but a completly new software (not only a relooking)

The old Terraed will be removed from sale, but the TerraEd
customer will have a special very low price for this Pro
version.

Boiled Sweets(Posted 2006) [#4]
What GUI is this using?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#5]
FUI ! It's a very good GUI :)

Boiled Sweets(Posted 2006) [#6]
Erm, not BCF :-(

Filax(Posted 2006) [#7]
Blitz eat many FPS with 2D GUI :( And a large reproach was
make on terraed FPS. Not choice :(

Alienforce(Posted 2006) [#8]
Whats the new features ?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#9]
Many ! List coming soon

TerraEd pro will be (i think) my last big product with blitz3D
(next goto blitzmax 3D :) and i want to do a nice landscape
software :)

Ross C(Posted 2006) [#10]
WHat about importing a mesh for your terrain? I've longed for an app that can use a mesh you build in a modeller, import, and use and paint on that. i'd even skip the painting bit, just so long as you could import :o)

Filax(Posted 2006) [#11]
You can import a mesh for use like a terrain :) I just need
to code the object lock for prevent selection/moving. But
for terrain mesh painting in real time it's another story :)

Wayne(Posted 2006) [#12]
Is there a demo yet ?

Ross C(Posted 2006) [#13]
It's cool. Thanks Filax, that's tops! Good work!

Filax(Posted 2006) [#14]
Not yet coming soon as possible :)

Doggie(Posted 2006) [#15]
Oh cool. As a returning customer I'll be anxious to see what " a very low price" winds up to be.
Add in a Q3 BSP compiler and you definitely got a deal...;)

Keep us posted.

Dreamora(Posted 2006) [#16]
yeah will be interesting to see how it compares to T.ED 4 when finished especially on the price tag ...

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#17]
>>You can import or replace database objects

i don't get this? what to you mean by that?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#18]
Imagine you have paste 2000 Trees on your terrain, and
at one moment, you want to replace the trees by another 3D
mesh, but you wan to keep the same place/size. Now you select
your object under database, click replace and Opla ! :)

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#19]
ah great, thanks for the description.
how long to you think will it takes to release of the demo?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#20]
Hum !! one or two week !

In order i'm doing :
- Protection system
- Demo map
- Doc (i promise, this doc will be complete)
- Differents demo map and tuto for clouds/colormap etc

And the big cake :
- Terraforma (but terraed will be launched before !)

terraforma come later, like the first terraed version.

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#21]
hm...

looking at your screenshot i noticed that the plants in the front are blocked by the water... seems to be the z-sorting prob?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#22]
Yes it's a really big problem :( while mark don't open
the renderworld ..... The water is generated by Dx7 DLL
and the problem appear each time that object with alpha
texture appear front the water plan.

Whe are searching help about this, but nobody can help us :(

Mark don't reply to my email :/

There is no solutions because the plan is create by the DLL

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#23]
as far as i readed about it, multiple render passes are the only solution =/

Filax(Posted 2006) [#24]
Hi murphy

Can you clarify ? If you have a good method to do this.... :)

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#25]
check your mail

Filax(Posted 2006) [#26]
Many thanks :)

Murphy(Posted 2006) [#27]
np - gald if i could help

Barliesque(Posted 2006) [#28]
Hey Filax, this is looking great! The new interface looks very well laid out for efficiency. I do hope you're able to package that alpha/z-sort fix into your library. Looking forward to TeraEd Pro!

:)

Filax(Posted 2006) [#29]
Hi :) I'm working on the demo map :) (See top updated
screenshot)

With this version demo map data will be delivered with
TerraEd for free :) But only when registered :)

For information, the colormap come directly from TerraEd
i have only put a brightness/contrast under photoshop.

wmaass(Posted 2006) [#30]
It's looking very good filax, looking forward to release. Will Terraforma have "texture painting" capabilities similar to A.L.E, Panorama etc?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#31]
I don't know for the moment ! But i think integrate some
usefull functions :)

Ross C(Posted 2006) [#32]
Are you still planning to allow an imported mesh to be the terrain?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#33]
Yes but not in the first release.

Ross C(Posted 2006) [#34]
Ok, thanks Filax!

Barliesque(Posted 2006) [#35]
...and is EasyTok support integrated into this release?

Filax(Posted 2006) [#36]
I think it's possible but not in the first one ! i have many
many stuff to do before, but i think made a little function
to do this :) the only problem is to get the terrain mesh :)

And it's not an hard work :)

But i have not tested EasyTOK + Multi terrain

Filax(Posted 2006) [#37]
ADMIN REMOVE THIS

Filax(Posted 2006) [#38]
TerraEd is updated, check your mail box :)

Boiled Sweets(Posted 2006) [#39]
Has anyone made a game with TerraEd? Is there more than just your demo world?

For those that don't know I think I have bought everything that Filaz has done (apart from TerraEd) so I am not doubting that this is an awesome product, I was just wondering...

IPete2(Posted 2006) [#40]
Boiled...okay here's the thing, I have only just started developing a follow up to my technical demo "DragonSphere".

So... introducing a little video of a very early, very quick snippet of "DragonSphere II - Dungeon Isle" (low fps rate due to video grabbing). TerraEd Pro is being used as the terrain generator and object placement and some of the vegetation and effects (notice the clouds, and the birds flying around). As I generate the level using TerraEd Pro I am including objects with names that the engine (also partly TerraEd Pro code) can pick out and add in some Particle Candy particles.

http://www.smartscreenuk.com/DungeonIsle_002.avi

Its an adventure game, in fps style and will be a little like Zelda offerings with you not seeing the main character though . More when there is more... lol but I think this will answer you question Boiled.

IPete2.

Other tools in place for the development of this project so far include:

TerraEd Pro
Particle Candy
Sprite Candy (gui included)
Pacemaker
Gile[s]
Ultimate Unwrap 3D
Milkshape
3DS Max (5.1)
Blitz 3D

Gnu(Posted 2006) [#41]

IPete2.

Bobysait(Posted 2006) [#44]
