shadow question

i'd like to place a shadow underneath a car. currently i'm just using a blitz-created quad with a texture/radial blur to smooth the edges, but since the quad is parented to the car it moves with the car on the Y axis and looks pretty ridiculous when the car bounces up and down... or banks sharply for that matter.

i've seen some ideas as far as doing linepicks and manipulating the verts of the shadow towel over the ground... is that the only solution, and will that system work with a .b3d level?

The easiest homebrew solution would be to do a linepick down from the car, and then align the shadow quad to the position and normals of the picked polygon. The easiest solution of all however would be to use sswift's shadow system.

You can also take an array of quads and align it to the ground in much the same way jhocking mentioned. It alows a shadow to follow uneven terrain without looking too horrible.
