Lightwave to B3D weirdness

I've created a zip here: www.mediumedge.com/b3d/objects.zip

In there there are four objects: 2 lightwave objects and their B3D counterparts. The B3D objects were created with Lee's conversion tool. Both objects have the same tri count and are perfectly the same except for one point that has been shifted in obj02.

In Blitz it displays the objects with the same tri count but with DIFFERENT VERT counts!

My workaround was to convert the LWO to B3D with gile[s]. Thankfully, it seems to convert all objects correctly. So, at this point it's no big deal since I have a way to work around it but I was curious as to why Lee's converter seems to be doing something strage here. Any thoughts as to why it seems to be mucking up?

Vert count *should* change I think. Lightwave probably stores all geometry unwelded. The converter sensibly welds where possible.
