Question about BlitzMax license
Blitz3D Forums/Blitz3D Programming/Question about BlitzMax license
| ||
Has the license been sorted to prevent another coolbasic rip off? It would be a shame to see this happen given the number of years Mark has spent on it. |
| ||
Ask it in the blitzmax forum!!!!! |
| ||
HE CAN'T! You have to register the product in order to have post rights, which is a bit silly, for evaluation purposes I personally would have granted access to the "Bmax evaluation forum" or sumthing. |
| ||
heheheh... oh.. me silly ^.^ And sorry for the rant style of post- im realy in a great mood :D |
| ||
The Blitzmax product page is not very clear. It says: Note: You only need to buy one version. Once you have registered your BlitzMax purchase, you will be able to download other versions as they become available. I mailed the Sales department about this, because "other versions" can be interpreted as: 1. Future upgrades 2. Other platforms Quite a difference :-) |
| ||
I'm pretty sure its other platforms, but we'll see :) |
| ||
Yes, it means the Linux and Windows versions. |
| ||
so umm... what about my question? |
| ||
Perturbatio, what is this "coolbasic rip off" then? |
| ||
coolbasic is a wrapper for Blitz3D which simply distributes a compiled bb.exe for free and lets the users access all the blitz commands using a scripting language. |
| ||
:O ...I see what you mean about "rip off". :/ |
| ||
I wouldnt worry about it. Coolbasic is not any kind of violation. I hope the license stays the same. |
| ||
I never said coolbasic was a violation of the license. I have a great issue with someone distributing a product for free that I am paying for simply because of a loophole in the license. |
| ||
coolbasic like thing can't be done anymore I think as not changable code is attached to the core anymore ... just because it allowes inclusion of C .libs and coolbasic disappeared again as well. |
