OGRE wrapper for Blitz

Blitz3D Forums/Blitz3D Programming/OGRE wrapper for Blitz

Proger(Posted 2004) [#1]
I starting to make OGRE wrapper for BlitzBasic.
Want to know opinions about need in that.. :)

Thats is first mini-demo: http://blitz.pp.ru/file/BlitzOGRE.zip

Necessary to copy files in userlibs catalog to userlibs catalog of blitz.

Warning!!!
Don't run him in blitz-shell.
In this time works only exe compiling files.

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#2]
what is the use of a wrapper for a only-render-engine in a game system? :)

ckob(Posted 2004) [#3]
dosnt work here :( i get a bunch of missing dll or include errors

Proger(Posted 2004) [#4]
Planned to realize maximum amount of functions.
So that will be Game System. :)

Necessary to copy files in userlibs catalog to userlibs catalog of blitz.

Space_guy(Posted 2004) [#5]
looks cool. but why does the code have to be compiled to work?

Sweenie(Posted 2004) [#6]
I would go for Nebula Device 2 instead.
http://www.radonlabs.de/nebula.html

They released version 2 recently and after I had seen some screenshots and read the reference-manual my first impression was... Wow!

Proger(Posted 2004) [#7]
I repacked demo: http://blitz.pp.ru/file/BlitzOGRE.zip

AntonyWells(Posted 2004) [#8]
Agree with sweenie. Although perhaps for Vivid's sake I shouldn't, but I do.

Gabriel(Posted 2004) [#9]
I'm still getting Userlib not found after copying contents of the userlib folder.

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#10]
hmm even packing all OGRE functions wouldn't it make a full usable function. You would be forced to add a lot of stuff yourself.

It is a good rendering engine but thats all OGRE is.

Proger(Posted 2004) [#11]
certainly... this will.
work is already leading

N(Posted 2004) [#12]
Sweenie: Agreed. I've been fiddling with it a bit now, and it's just as good as Nebula 1 was.

ckob(Posted 2004) [#13]
ok i got it to work now and it works pretty well. Im not sure if you can wrap ogre(license agreement) but if you can this would be a sweet addition to Blitz3d's chest of libraries.

JaviCervera(Posted 2004) [#14]
You can wrap OGRE, it uses the LGPL license.

Clarks(Posted 2004) [#15]
It would sure be nice to have access to vertex shading.

ckob(Posted 2004) [#16]
is this project still active?

@rtur(Posted 2004) [#17]
>is this project still active?
yes

Agamer(Posted 2004) [#18]
What are the terms of the LGPL liscence?

JaviCervera(Posted 2004) [#19]
You can use it for whatever you want, even closed-source commercial applications. You only have to release the source of the parts of the LGPL library that you have modified (if any).

Proger(Posted 2004) [#20]
New version for testing...

http://blitz.pp.ru/file/BlitzGR.rar

Enjoy!

ckob(Posted 2004) [#21]
eeck slow download speeds :( if you want I can host this file on one of my servers

I also get a corrupt zip and there looks like only 2 dll files I dont know if you have more files you wanted in there?

Proger(Posted 2004) [#22]
I also pack new version to "zip" archive...

http://blitz.pp.ru/file/BlitzGR.zip
http://blitz.pp.ru/file/BlitzGR.rar (not corrupt...)

ckob(Posted 2004) [#23]
weird I tried downloading the rar again and it's still corrupt on my end :( probebly my machine I've been having some problems with it. Arkon i sent you an email to the email address in your profile. I tested the current release and it looks awesome keep up the good work.

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#24]
testet the rar, no problem. perhaps your winrar is outdatet? ( not beta of winrar 3.4 )

but the source does nothing beside opening a black window that runs into a timeout *when compiling the source myself ...*

[edit] ok the compile problem solved ... seems to be a problem in visual blitz

Rob(Posted 2004) [#25]
Works perfectly. Nice shadows!

ckob(Posted 2004) [#26]
Dreamora: nope you have to compile it to an exe, in his first post he states not to run it in blitz btu to compile it because it dosnt work.

mongia2(Posted 2004) [#27]
Works perfectly
converter a b3d or x 2 mesh??

thanks
Mongia

Dreamora(Posted 2004) [#28]
