If I am single persion "indie", what is the desire workflow to create a 3D game? And what tools prefer in each process.

For example, what tools to create indoor level, lightmap, terrain, character modeling? Is there performance issue if the indoor map is too large? level editor (any)? sound, music?

Blitz 3D is simply a language+3D engine, I still not get down to create a game.

All I know is a pretty lowcost workflow (note I haven't made a game yet :P):

Wings3D - Object modeling (free - http://www.wings3d.com/)

Ultimate Unwrap - unwrapping models (unwrapping is basically telling where parts of a texture go) this also functions VERY well as a converter betweeen 63 model formats ($40 http://www.unwrap3d.com/).

Gimp - Texturing (free - http://www.gimp.org/)

Lightmap - Gile[s] for quality + support (developer is a blitz user) http://www.frecle.net/giles/home.htm - €40. Slim shady for being free :P http://www.melog.ch/slimshady/

Terrain - take your pick http://www.blitzbasic.com/toolbox/toolbox.php?cat=7

Level editers - cartography shop (http://www.leadwerks.com/) , quill (http://shop.idigicon.com/pdetails.asp?id=418), or maplet (free from accounts section)

Check out the toolbox http://www.blitzbasic.com/toolbox/toolbox.php

Thanks for information, I didn't realize the toolbox page.

What I'd like to see is a workflow process of different tools. On the Slim Shady web site, something like that: (something like how to cook a delicious dish :)

---------------------------------------------------------
Possible Workflow (forget what I said about Decorator Problems before):

* Use Maplet to generate a main Building Mesh and save it without Lightmap.
* Load it in SlimShady and merge additional static Meshes, eg. furniture.
* Load the lightmapped result of SlimShady in Decorator and finish Texture works.

OR

* Use Maplet to generate a main Building Mesh and save it without Lightmap.
* Load the non-lightmapped Maplet-mesh in Decorator and do some Texture works.
* Load it in SlimShady and merge additional static Meshes, eg. furniture.

ah. well, it all depends on what you're making. For instance:

Outdoor adventure game level:

*Create terrain in Total Terrain (free :D)
*Create trees in treeD (requires giles to convert to b3d)
*Create static meshs in Wings3d
*Unwrap meshs with UU or lithunwrap (free)
*Texture with gimp or photoshop
*All the while positioning meshs and props in TerraED

(obviously tools can be interchanged)

my fps stuff:

-map design with maplet
-adding textures to the map with decorator
-create furniture and stuff in milkshape or any modeler and uvmap it in lithunwrap, edit textures in Gimp or Photoshop
-adding furniture and lightmapping to map in slimshady
-using my inhouse placement tool to add pickable game items, doors etc.
-edit and animate characters (CharacterFX, Pacemaker, 3dsMAX)
-use inhouse tool to record waypoints for enemies etc
-Use Modplug to make some music
-Use Goldwave to edit sounds
-Use ogg Vorbis encoder to compress WAV to OGG
-use Molebox to pack the whole thing
-upload
-relax
