Hi all !

I need some performance feedback from my GUI for my tool, can you test it please ?

With this version you only load an heightmap and a shader is apply to it.

Try with and with out a terrain in small and full screen please

Don't forget to write you configuration the resolution

An heightmap is in the Ressource folder, if you don't have one( toolbar new project to load it)

thank a lot

Very nice GUI. I presume it's a modified BCF 3.0 GUI?

Here are my results.

Default window - no terrain - 143 fps
Default window - with terrain - 41 fps

Maximized window - no terrain - 71 fps
Maximized window - with terrain - 31 fps

Maximized window is 1600 x 1200

In all cases the movement is rather smooth.

P4 - 2400 GHz, Radeon 9600XT, 1 GB RAM

Barney

Yes, it's BCF 3.0 modifed, I think, Filax and me put the tooltip in the next release of the BCF :-)

Thank for your test

The 3d grid dissappears when you look at it at different angles and I get strange z buffering issues on the terrain.

Eole(Posted 2004) [#5]
Yes, it the grid if you hide it, you no longer have the probleme but what is your perf ?

After you can set the height of the grid ...

Looks good.

Here are my results.

Default window - no terrain - 80fps
Default window - with terrain - 35 fps

Maximized window - no terrain - 52fps
Maximized window - with terrain - 20 fps

Maximized window is 1152x 864 x 16

Even at 20fps it was still OK to use

AthlonXP 1800, Matrox G550, 1/2gig ram

amd 3200, gf3ti500

NobodyInParticular(Posted 2004) [#8]
Default window no terrain = 141fps
Default window with terrain = 61fps
Max. window (1024x768) no terrain = 105fps
Max. window with terrain = 54fps

dangerdave(Posted 2004) [#9]
Looks good Eole.

default window no terrain = 110-120 fps
default window with loaded terrain = 10-25 fps
default window with create terrain = 25-32 fps
(create terrain is flat)

Turning off grid or skybox does not help fps.

==========================
I know it is not something that you are looking for right now, but when you load or create a terrain and then
click on New and click OK without loading or creating a terrain, the program crashes. (either a MAV or general crash)

=============
By the way I have ATi 9700Pro, but only at 4x AGP
Athlon 1800XP (1.5GHz), WinME, 768MB RAM.

dangerdave(Posted 2004) [#10]
Are you and Filax getting together and combining Geospace3D and TerraEd?

That would be a great program to have.

Eole, your english is not a problem.

It's much better than my french/francais.

"Bonjour", "Ou est le toilet?", "Merci", lol!

Combined Geospace3D and TerraEd will definitely be on my shopping list as soon as they appear in combined version. Keep up the good work, lads. :)
