I was playing Halo on XBOX and I noticed the textures on the soldiers look really cool, what do they use?

bump maps,multitexturing,....??????

Probably bumpmaps of some kind. Some really nice rock textures too, like that :)

the machine gun is pretty useless, the pistol is more powerful and accurate - silly eh?

The grass is awesome, do they create grass polygons within a certain distance of the player?

Thing is it still suffers from 'invisible legs' syndrome. You look down and cant see your own legs.

Slenkar: The common geek, when looking down, can't even see his toes ;)

Anyhow, if I'm not mistaken the first Halo used just the bevel/emboss style bump maps. Not sure about the latest, but it appears to be the same case. You'd have to ask someone who worked on it (who knows, they might tell you).
