Hi,

I've been trying to 'understand' how dot3 works, and tweaked Fredborgs DotMyBot example, and ended up with this

http://www.tomspeed.com/dot3-tests.zip

I had a hell of a time getting it working with parent/child meshes, turns out you have to convert some normals to parent space (I think :), anyways, the effect is nice & subtle. The subdivison test shows you really need a moderately subdivided mesh to get decent results though.

Mikkels code is messy...well it is now I got my hands on it :) It's kinda hacked up a bit, still by no means a correct example!, and I've only modified the point light part.

Tom

Excellent effect ;) Good Work!

Bot Builder(Posted 2004) [#5]
Awesome!

Bump-mapping adds so much to objects

mrtricks(Posted 2004) [#6]
Really, really nice -- looking forward to looking through the code to see how that's achieved...

Ooh I had a suspicious looking e-mail - from a suspicious looking source - Dot3 in the title made me remember this - looks like it is from "Tom Speed" - thankyou. I will now open the sucker up.

lol! Hell.... I'd still quarantine it for a week in case it picked up something along the way :)

wouldn't mind having this in my demo.
