Hi everyone,

Forgive the possible newbieness of my question.

I just upgraded to 1.83 from an old version, around maybe 1.72.

I had done some 3d a while back and forgot about it. But I just loaded some old programs in the new version. They gave errors complaining that surfaces weren't found.

Sure enough, Blitz counts only one surface in the model. But it used to count three. Neither models nor my code changed.

Am I hallucinating?

I've been using 3dmax 3 and exporting as .3ds. I just did a test of saving a .3ds containing three cubes, but Blitz considers them all one surface.

What can I do?

I ran across a similar issue of missing surfaces, and Mark said that it was indeed optimizing the models when it should not be. I presume that that means he will fix it. Perhaps you should post this in the bugs forum to remind him.
