Hi all,

What are the advantages of using MD2 over .b3d,.3ds or .x?

Thanks in advance

I like b3d better personally since it was made for blitz3d games.

way faster

Although there was a thread posted by Pete Carter ( I think) several months back which mentioned that the speed difference was negligible or slower on modern ATI cards.

MD2's are pretty good...and pretty fast.

There is however a downfall; they are not pickable entities; which means, you cannot use Linepick / Camerapick commands on these.

This doenst mean you cannot use them in a FPS etc., it means that you may need to apply 'hit boxes' to them to simulate legs / torso / arms and head. This could be looked at as a plus!

Why arent they pickable? Not sure. But they are ok most other usage as well as animation.

Animated B3d would be the optimal....as Nate says, the format was made for B3D.

Hope this helps a little.

yeah, I am using CameraPick on my MD2's, but I assign a EntityBox instead of an EntityRadius.

It works great!!
