I wanted to know what programs work with blitz3d for creating landscapes, characters, animations, and anything like that with good graphics, and that aren't too expensive...THANKS

Milkshape. And your CAPS LOCK key.

Rob Farley(Posted 2008) [#3]
Ultimate Unwrap (for unwrapping your Milkshape models)
Paint Shop Pro (for painting your textures).

And why not release the CAPS LOCK?

TED and ALE.

Welcome! Best purchase you'll make for a while :o)

Yo! Wazzup?(Posted 2008) [#8]
Blender's awesome. :)

It's as good as any 3D modeller you'd pay for.

And it doesn't really matter if he types in 18 letters all in caps.
He's new here. Stop giving him a hard time.

Zethrax(Posted 2008) [#9]
Nobody's giving him a hard time, just good advice on proper forum protocol. Typing titles in all caps just makes the person doing it look like an idiot, which reduces the chance that they will get an intelligent answer to their questions.

don't feel like your the only one challenger...i have done it before...just take it as a learning experience...

CHALLENGER426(Posted 2008) [#11]

Welcome Challenger426,

If you can not afford 3DS Max then 'Milkshape' is great for the creation of objects and characters, as well as animating them, see Psionics website for tutorials. If you can afford 3DS Max you will need B3D pipeline from www.onigirl.com - check out the latest news there too.

Ultime Unwrap 3D is a fantastic bit of software for UV mapping and checking and changing formats of meshes, animations etc (Direct X to B3d etc).

Gile[s] is unchallenged as a lightmapping tool, an object placer.

Pacemaker is used for boning characters and animating them in the editor.

Maplet is a basic level editor mainly for indoor stuff.

Look for an application called "Tattoo" made by another Blitzer, it allows you to paint onto meshes, shareware.

Check out all the Physics and GUI stuff B3d can utilise either in the Toolbox part of the forum or the Userlibs part.

Also look through the kind of code which has already been submitted to the code archives, there's literally hundreds of useful functions available to help make coding life easier.

TED is a great landscape editor (although I have only really played with the demo) it has a lot of functions you may want to try out.

And finally Cyril... Check through the IDE Home page and look for the SAMPLES 2D and 3D folders in your B3d installatiopn. Inside there you will find some excellent starting points for all sorts of games and demos.

Good luck and once again WELCOME!

IPete2.
