Hey Guys/Gals

I ordered the manual yesterday.
But i have a question if anyone has ti already.

Does it show you in the book, basic steps how to make a tile engine.
If not, this is whats killing me, i see source for tile engines but no information explaining how it works or making one.

I need so guidance to some literature people. Im not asking to be taught, just something to read and learn how to do it.

Please Thank you..

The manual is exactly that - a manual.

There are some tutorials in there, but it is really just a printed manual.

As far as 'tile engines' go, see if you can get anything out of THIS or maybe even THIS.

Thanks guys, and yes it is that manual.
I already own Game programming for teens 1 and second edition. Word to the wise, you only need the second edition on this series. They are the same thing.
Also blitz3d game programming is another book.
So why not have this one as well.

Im looking into the links now, ty.

ok :) well this might have been abit before your time here. But about 3? years ago there was an equally large unofficial comunity site called Blitzcoder. It had a load of older 2D tutorials and articles. Its long gone now, but you can still access alot of the material by goign here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20050324071312/http://www.blitzcoder.com/

It is on a very slow server though, so don't get frustrated. There are lots of 2D tutorials for Blitz2D and Blitz3D in the Tutorials and Articles section.

looks like someone went to the trouble of copying them onto a faster server:

Oh yes, i know the site but it was closed when i first got to looking at blitz.

Umm, ok mate im definitely on this link!
BTW, just in case you guys think im real young or something.
Im well past being a teen, im in my 30's.
But the love of wanting to make a game is something i always wanted to do :). I have made a simple game from a source of code from a space invaders clone. I learned allot doing it. But now i just want to do a tile engine and try to make a Mario game, using a mix of everything from mario 1,2 & 3. Thanks again for the link boomboom.

Edit: I just downloaded every article from that page with the exception of about 5 or 9 topics. Only blitz related material :). Whew im glad thats over, now i have copies if the site goes completely offline.
