Is it possible to make waterfalls in a scene?
How can this be done?

Thanks

I found it very hard... What i did is to create a mesh, and having a moving texture on it. I moved the texture the way the water was flowing and had a few particle emittors at the bottom, emitting water spray particles. Worked ok. I'll post a video if you want.

Your video will show me if your technice is quite enough for my needs. Can you post the video please?
In any case your advise is helpful because I don't know where to start...

Nice and clear guidelines.

I don't think the particle waterfalls look very good tbh. That example doesn't look too great.

Is the thread in which the waterfall is featured.

Ross C: Judging from your screen shots your waterfall is very good for my needs. About the video link I am getting 'Page not found'

dam, sorry. Let me sort that...

Nice link though Rob. It's a good read on how to do effects :o) Thanks.

Ok, uploading...

For the waterfall:

I have a mesh, the shape of the water fall. It comes straight down, slightly coming out as it hits the water. On the mesh, i have a moving texture, to simulate the water falling. I also use the FastLib extentions, and it's bumpmapping extentions.

I have two ring particle emittors, emitting water foam particles. Without them, it looks terrible. I use Particle Candy for this.

It's all a big trick. I think mine looks a bit unrealistic in that it's quite shiney... But it does me :o) I added in some light shafts to draw the eye away from the waterfall a bit too.

Video uploaded... Click on that link again :o)

Moraldi,

Check out Particle Candy - there's a wonderful waterfall in their demo.

Thanks IPete. I already own Particle Candy and I realised after my first post that I can find a solution there. But Ross C's solutions looks interesting too.

Yeah that particle waterfall looked great. Unfortunely, because of my needs personally, it didn't do for me. because the character gets pretty close to the waterfall, and the general look of the waterfall, it just didn't fit my game. It's all about what your after and what the conditions are like during the game.

IF you can get hold of fredborgs waterfall (he did an excellent little level, in a small valley, with cracking lighting) he implemented a waterfall great too. It is maybe at least 3 years old.
