I read somewhere that is better use a big texture with uvm rather than many little texture for a sinlge mesh..
Just a question what is uvm?
I use 3dsmx 9 and in a mesh i use many texture. What i can do to use just one?

1. UVM = UV Map

2. Combine all your individual textures into one image and apply that to your mesh.

i have to do the same....

i make one texture in photoshop, and use "unwrap" to export to blitz my entity with a only one texture...

in my case, i render the tank, front, side, top, and place in photoshop the textures... next, the unwrap in 3dsmax

maibe is a automatic way to do.

I don't have photoshop.. there is another way?

You have 3dsmx9 but don't have PS? Hmmmm... better not comment.

Santiworld(Posted 2008) [#6]
:p...

you can put planes in 3dsmax with your texturemaps
make a render, and you have all textures in one picture...

or you can make with paintbrush too, copy paste all textures in one big bmp....

In all honestly, if your simply stitching textures together, you can use any image editing application. Even paint would do this :o)

Sorry i am not really expert.. Ok i put all texture in one, but i must put it in the exatly order of my mesh?
I try to explain..
I have a car , i must put the texture of tyres on bottom, glass in midlle etc?
I hope you understand me ..

No, what you do is unwrap the model, and place the flattened out polys in order so you can paint a texture. If your combining textures you will need to edit the UV co-ords of the mesh.

So, you'll need an unwrapping application.

search for UltimateUnwrap. There are free ones that do it too.

Ok i'll search this program but... I think i must ask again to you :)

I dont have paintshop

Either:
Use gimp - www.gimp.org -its free.
Or buy paintshop (a cheap photoshop-like app IMO better in some ways for this kind of stuff)

I prefer the latter.
