'Pandemonium' 2.5D examples?

Anyone have an example of the 'Pandemonium' style 2.5D movement?

I'm thinking of trying waypoints and a camera fixed to the player to achieve the effect.

Basically, the player appears to walk side to side relative to the camera, but follows a predefined 3d path.

Any help would be appreciated.

Waypoints would be a good idea, constantly pointing the player to the next waypoint. With some smoothing, you could get this to work pretty good.

I don't have blitz installed just now, but this might be of some usage. Others have made it better below my entry. And it would be alot easier to do in 3d too :D
