does anyone know a good book that explains b3d?

LineOf7s(Posted 2007) [#2]
You mean other than this manual available on the Products page of this very site?

Ah yes .. but there is also 3d game programming for teens:

Yes, there is, but I don't think it's about Blitz at all.

3d Game Programming for teens is for Blitz3d. Found it at Barns N' Noble (sp?).

chwaga(Posted 2007) [#8]
game programming for teens isn't very good...It explains very little of the b3d command set...I had to teach myself most of it.

blade007(Posted 2007) [#9]
lol i read and have both. the (2d) game programming for teens is more in-depth than the 3d one

blade007(Posted 2007) [#10]
is the manual any better?

Gabriel(Posted 2007) [#11]
3d Game Programming for teens is for Blitz3d. Found it at Barns N' Noble (sp?).

I stand corrected. None of the write ups I could find for the book mentioned B3D, while they did specifically mention Javascript and Wild Tangent.

blade007(Posted 2007) [#12]
ya 3d game programming for teens uses blitz 3d look at page 44 chapter 4

Gabriel(Posted 2007) [#13]
If I owned the book, I wouldn't have had to check online writeups to see what it covered.

blade007(Posted 2007) [#14]
sorry, it says "ive selected Blitz3D for several reasons..."

Yahfree(Posted 2007) [#15]
I own a copy of 3d programming for teens, its a awsome beginners book, and even better if its your first language. it doesnt get very deep, but unlike some of the comments here, i can confirm its 100% blitz3d, it explains the concept of games and how they are developed, some history of them, and then it goes into all the learn blitz3d basics stuff

blade007(Posted 2007) [#16]
woah i found this HUGE list of books based on programming , but HALF of them are in blitz basic and blitz3D ( pay attention to the titles its very easy to catch if their not in blitz, and hard to catch if they are ): http://www.amazon.com/gp/series/88977/ref=pd_serl_books/105-9632228-0911617?ie=UTF8&edition=paperback

blade007(Posted 2007) [#17]

Nathaniel(Posted 2007) [#18]
No it's not:

and gives you example code in good C++

(Quote from one of the reviews)

The code is definitely C.
