Hi all,

I'm not really new to B3d, but havent used the 3d functions so much, as my games till now were 2d ones. Now I think of setting my self in action for some 3d games.

What software can be used to create 3d objects that can be used with blitz3d? Or is it better to create them programmatically? (I suppose not)

Milkshape and Ultimate Unwrap are fairly 'mainstream' for around these parts. Both can export to .B3D format, which you will need to use for boned/animated deformable meshes.

You can create them programatically if all you want is cubes and spheres, and a handful of other primitives, but on a bigger scale you need a modeller.

Thanks, I'll just tried Milkshape, but the select functionality is giving me some troubles.

Now i'll give Ultimape UnWrap a spin

I dunno if you've seen it, or if it's something you might be interested in... but for building a quick interior scene try the (free) `MAPLET` program ...

It's not quite up to Gile(s) or commercial modellers standards, but for quick lightmapped `Quake-like` interiors I think it's great :)

Mappix seems to be more for internal and level design, or? I am looking more for something to model objects from scratch just now.

I'll download mappix a bit later though, just to be sure that what i read about it is true.

I really love Wings3D for modelling and could get my head around its beta UV mapping. It's also free but sadly does not support .B3D (does have .3DS).

Thanks, I'll give Wings3d a spin as well..

Just a stupid question, why is it better to have .B3D files then .3DS files? B3D is probably native, but what features are there for us, that 3DS doesnt have?
