in this image im using an the orthographic proj mode.

my question is is there any way to get rid of the distortion on the tall objects where they seam to bend in at the top. is this because of the camera zoom setting if so whats the best setting?

With orthographic projection there is no perspective. Two objects which are the same size will appear the same size on screen, no matter how far they are from the camera.

In this case the front and back of a building are the same height. So they are the same height on screen. This makes the back of the building look taller since it is farther away.

sorry i think i explained my issue in the wrong way. i know what orthographic means. its the light map it fools my eyes into thinking the out side edges of the buildings are not quite right. but i turned on the grid in photoshop to check and you can quite plainly see they are correct. sorry i feel a fool now.

guess im so used to perspective now that isometric looks odd

yeah, othromatrixes/orthographic projection is meant for 2-dementional sprites usually, i'd just use perspective...
