Hi

We are currently trying to use b3d extensions in max 8. But when ported it fails to work. Where can find samples of extensions used (Max and bb file) so that we can refer the same for our project?

look:
http://blitzbasic.com/sdkspecs/sdkspecs/b3dfile_specs.txt

this shows the file format of the b3d file format.

also this b3d file loader and saver utility could help alot:

hope it helps!

Actually we are using b3d pipeline for exporting 3ds to b3d....B3d extensions allow exporting 3ds lights into b3d...But we are facing problem with retrieving the same in blitz...For this purpose we need samples of work which we can refer...is there any other way to export 3ds with lights and other details?

Most such details only work within 3D Studio Max

You won't get any shadow etc within B3D, you only get the geometry with texture, shininess and texture blending settings as well as hardware lights you placed ...

The "nice looking smooth things" from 3DS Max are 3DS Max only if you are refering to those.

And how do you export parametric deformations?

Dreamora(Posted 2006) [#6]
When I remember right, you won't
Dynamic effects must be fixed within the geometry before export or are lost (like any dynamic modification)
If they are changing dynamic effects *on the geometry*, you need to use keyframe based animation ... (but you don't need that many keyframes thanks to tweening which can calculate in between steps for you)
