Hi,
to export an animated model (character) from my anim tool, I've the choice between *.X and *.B3D format ...
What is the best choice (and "why" if it's possible ;)) ?
TIA.

.B3D
Usually works right... ;)

B3D supports the most animation options, and generally works better than any other file format in Blitz. Working with .x files will potentially cause problems at some stage.

And if you model is boned/skinned .X format will not work. Blitz3D supports only DX7 .X which doesn't have skinning. .B3D has that and will work nicely.

Okay, so .x is good to avoid if you can manage it.

What about .3ds?

(Apologies if there's something about 3ds that means it's *obviously* unsuitable)

Ok thanks for your answers, I then will go for the B3D file format.
