Hi, just been looking at Dplay as an alternative for communications accross the internet. My question is, does blitz implement a client/server model or peer to peer?

So if i send data to another client if will go through the host and not direct from client to client. Reason im asking is, why have a command to show where the message is going to > netmsgto() when the message can only be recieved by the client its destined for??

Ross C(Posted 2005) [#4]
Hmmm, well i use the lib's for networking, like blitzplay and rottnet. ANd they've always worked under the basis of someone hosting the game, and all the other players connecting to that computer. I assume that command would be used by the host perhaps.

Yeah thats what im thinking, but if the message was destined for a client, the host would never get it.. wish the manual was more helpfull. Do you know of any Dplay tutorials for blitz3d?

WHy not try and use one of the lib aviable for this? Their pretty good, and take alot of the pain out of it :o)

Andy UK(Posted 2005) [#7]
are these libs free to use/distribute?

Ross C(Posted 2005) [#8]
"Blitzplay Lite" and "Rottnet" are free to use :o)
