texture in another directory

Blitz3D Forums/Blitz3D Beginners Area/texture in another directory

Want to ask something here.

I have created a character in 3ds max and used unwrap to apply my texture on it. I then exported the file as a b3d format.

When I import the model into blitz and run the scene, the character is not textured. This is due to the fact that I saved the texture file in another folder.

My question here is what should I do so that I can use the texture from another different directory?

I am not sure but I believe that you just place the texture file in the same directory as the .b3d file (or maybe the same directory of the .exe file, in case they are different, but just try both).

Is there no way to load the texture with the b3d file in another directory?

Try adding the whole address for the texture... ie. instead of ("my_texture.bmp") add something like ("C\Program Files\Blitz3D\my_texture.bmp")or where ever you've saved the texture.

I've managed to run programs with textured meshes using this method, but only when I havn't actually saved the program yet.

It's best to just put everything in the same directory. It'll save hassle later on.
