Big textures? or small but many?

I just want to know if what of the following will make a big hit on performance in blitz3d 1024x1024 single texture on a single mesh or many 64x64 textures on a single mesh? |

I did a 4096x4096 on blitzterrain and worked ok. |

You don't have to be obsessive about it though unless performance is at a premium. I've gotten away with lots of little objects painted both individually and cloned. -a note from my years of painstaking research: I was ASTONISHED what difference a real good graphics card made- even in a crappy computer! I was a newb at the time. HUUUUGE! |
