I just tried UPX as advised by the FrameWork Assistant FA
and thought it was good, better compression ratio, still has my icon etc

Did you download it via FTP by any chance? If so make sure you download in binary mode, not in ASCII mode.

Boulderdash(Posted 2007) [#3]
I still want to use UPX, its great you get your icon still there instead of a zip folder and sometimes better compression ratios

Dreamora(Posted 2007) [#4]
you konw that UPX has not the least bit to do with file compression like ZIP and RAR?

Koriolis(Posted 2007) [#5]
Not the least bit? You mean apart from actually compressing files?!?

I use...

upx --best --crp-ms=999999 --nrv2d -o <output filename> <input filename>

UPX user.

The perfect companion to use with BlitzPlus.
I like UPX, usually by the Drag-And-Drop feature.

Yay...let's add even more pointlessness to an already pointless thread which was just as pointless when it was created a year ago...Hoorar! ;o)

Grisu(Posted 2009) [#9]
What's "--crp-ms=999999 --nrv2d -o" for?

I simply use "--brute". I'm so cruel... :o)

No idea, it doesn't appear to be in the UPX help...

There's also --ultra-brute in the latest version which can be even better, but takes much longer to complete
