Which is the best audio driver for Mac (Intel Macs)?

FreeAudio (Which is default I think), or OpenAL.

I am experiencing problems with sounds not playing when using OpenAL, but on the other hand when using FreeAudio I get random freezing in the playback (This does not happen on every Mac I have tried).

Please advice anyone.

i'm on Lion, mac mini and use FreeAudio without any problems.
what formats are you loading - large files, etc?

I am using ogg files all over.

I have about 16 music pieces, and a lot of sound effects as well, all in ogg format.

The problem is quite strange. First of all, it does not happen on every Mac IO have testet, but on two out of three.

Secondly, it only happened after I added a lot of new music files. A while ago, I had about 8 files, and it all worked well. After adding another 8 music scores, it started to happen. It only happens on some of the music files (The clicking), and depending on the order I load the files the clicking changes from file to file.

are you streaming from disk or loading the entire files and playing? if you'r streaming, it could be the pause is caused by disk access as blitz loads more data?

I am loading all of the audio files at startup, so there is no streaming involved.

I recommend IrrKlangAudio or OpenALAudio
