Here's a thought then...

I'm just about to switch over to a Mac. I've got virtual PC.

Has anyone tried running Max under VPC to create windows binaries on a Mac? Would be a great solution for cross-platform compiles if it does work...

Yes, I did. It works perfect to compile a Windows and/or Linux binary but don't expect to actually play your game.

It also works in reverse, using PearPC on Windows to emulate a Mac. But again, it's not fun.

Hmmm... But say, if I have a Mac and I only need that emulator to create a Windows EXE, it should work alright. Right?

Yes!

Excellent!

Cool, I should try that too. Anyone can tell me what windows I should emulate? I heard that it's not very fast... (as expected)

I you have a more recent Mac, Virtual PC and Guest PC can emulate Windows XP pretty "fast" but I would consider you use Windows 2000.
