Deadline is Midnight, Sunday 12th June Entry Requirements • You must submit a working executable showing some realtime audio, video, or preferably both. Screensavers will also be accepted if they heavily promote macscene.org and #macscene! • The theme is "A mac.scene.org and #macscene promotion demo". Demos that DON'T include that theme will have points deducted! • The viewer must be able to quit the demo at any moment by pressing ESC or COMMAND-Q. • Maximum demo length (in time) is not limited, but you should remember that long demos can get boring! • Any MAC OS can be supported, but be aware that if you support the most common OS's more people can view and vote for your entry. Demos that run in emulators will not be accepted. Please state which OS your demo requires in the info file. • Maximum file size is 5MB (5,242,880,880 bytes) in a Mac compatable archive (ZIP, SIT, DMG etc) file or uncompressed. • The demo may write to the harddrive, but MUST NOT leave garbage lying around. • The demos must be previously unpublished. • Direct Mac conversions of existing demos are not allowed. Complete remakes of legendary demos (no porting!) made by completely separate people are ok. • You must include an info file (labled yourdemoname.txt) in the package. You should include any compatability information there. • Keep filenames sensible (no weird characters, and length below 21 characters) General rules • The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any demo, and the right to change the rules at any time. We'll try not to. • Contributor must own all copyrights to the competition entry. • The authors will retain copyright to their productions. The demos must still be freely distributable. • The demo must not contain any 'illegal' content. We will disqualify entries wich we think could cause us or our host any problems. Use common sense. (i.e. avoid: Using copyrighted material (no ripping), child porn, racist/sexist material etc.) • The organizers will spread the last version they've received from you, unless your entry is for any reason disqualified, in which case we will ask you want you want. • You may give extra information for organizers while submitting the production. More on this when the upload page is ready. • Make sure we get your email address or phone number in case we need to contact you. • After the deadline, entries will be released online for people to download and vote on. • The prize is fame and glory! To promote some advances in the level of demos on Mac, productions with the following will earn voting bonus: • 64k demo: 5 percent bonus • 4k demo: 10 percent bonus • Demo that runs inside a dock icon: 10 percent bonus • Demos that don't include the competition theme: -10 percent bonus Note that an entry can only get one bonus (i.e. 4k entries don't get 10% plus an extra 5% for being under 64k, and a 4k dock icon demo will only get 10%). If an entry qualifies for 2 bonuses, it will be awarded the highest one. |
